Laingholm Beauties
A single earing, a shell found from a walk to the coast, a piece of driftwood, a gift of fabric, clothing from the rag bag, buttons and bows, little bits and pieces and a needle and thread. And so the guys and gals created from all ‘these things’ became the Laingholm Beauties.
Cloth doll bodies are made from repurposed cotton and linen, stuffed with polyester, faces are hand embroidered. and they are dressed in hand made clothing using linen, silk, cotton, calico, discarded clothing, off cuts and scraps of vintage cloth, lace and buttons. Accessories include odd earrings, driftwood and shells found on beaches, beads, ribbons and wire. During this process of making, personalities develop and names evolve. They are able to be undressed and are suitable for children and adults alike with a hand stitched buttonhole loop at the back of the neck for hanging if preferred. Sizes vary - 500mm high x 150mm wide (not including the arms) and have their own cloth carry bag. Based loosely on the pattern from 'My Rag Doll ' Corinne Crasbercu.
